Research

The Leichter Lab works on physical-biological interactions all over the world. Though we work in many different systems, we are all interested in how physical forces, such as wave action and nutrient availability, shape ecological communities.

Caribbean

-Internal waves and coral recruitment

Moor'ea, French Polynesia

-Human impacts on zooplankton community structure

Hawaii

-Ecology and history of native Hawaiian fishponds

California

- Recruitment of the endangered white abalone (Point Loma, San Diego)
- Transport of nutrients and pollution in the surf zone (Huntington Beach)
- Structure and function of highly polluted marine ecosystems
